“Jail Pastors Who Perform Fake Miracles” – Afrobeat Singer Tells Nigeria Govt

Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has stirred reactions after sharing a live video where he asked the Nigeria Federal Government to take action against pastors who claim to perform miracles.

It was gathered that Seun said there should be a law that stops people from carrying out or claiming miracles without proof.

According to him, anyone who says they can perform such acts should face punishment, except they can show clear evidence under proper medical conditions.

He explained that any pastor making such claims should be tested at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where the miracle can be properly checked.

He added that it should not be based on stories or claims made in churches or online, but something that can be confirmed in a hospital setting.

The singer went further to say that the person making the claim should be able to repeat the act several times in front of medical experts.

He gave an example that if someone claims to restore sight, it should involve a case that can be clearly verified by doctors, not something that cannot be proven.

He also said that anyone who fails to show such proof after making the claim should be held responsible.

In his view, strict punishment should be introduced to stop what he believes are false claims and to protect the public from being misled.

He said:  “A law should be made to ensure that no one is allowed to perform miracles, and anyone caught claiming to perform a miracle should be sent to jail. The only exception would be if the miracle can be proven at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

“They should perform the miracle for ten people at LUTH. I do not want to hear about fake miracles, because your God can do all things. I am not talking about miracles that claim to heal someone who has been blind their entire life. In this case I’m talking about someone with no eyeballs at all and if the miracle is real, the person should gain full vision. If you cannot perform the miracle, you should be held accountable.

“If a person is unable to perform the miracle, they should be sentenced to fifty years in prison.”
